🌈 UNDERSTANDING PLAY SCHEMAS 🌈

Have you ever noticed your child repeating the same activity—lining up toys, transporting objects, wrapping things up or watching items spin?

This repeated play may be a schema: a natural pattern of behaviour that helps children explore ideas and understand how the world works. 🧠✨

Some common schemas include:

🚚 Transporting – moving objects between places
⚽ Trajectory – dropping, throwing or watching things move
🌀 Rotation – spinning objects or themselves
🏠 Enclosing – creating borders or spaces around objects
🎁 Enveloping – wrapping, covering, hiding or filling
🧱 Connecting – joining and separating materials
📏 Positioning – lining up and arranging objects
🔍 Orientation – viewing things from different angles

Repeated play isn’t “just doing the same thing again”—it is meaningful learning! By recognising children’s schemas, we can provide safe activities and resources that build upon their interests. 💛

Today, I received several lovely messages thanking me for the love and support I’ve given to all the children who have walked through my door over the years. 💕 These messages truly mean so much to me.

I’ve watched children begin many exciting new adventures—from leaving me to start preschool, to moving on to primary school and even high school. 🎒✨ Wherever their journey takes them, I will always support and celebrate their new beginnings.

Over the years, families become family, and for that I am forever grateful. 🥰 Thank you for every photograph, update and thoughtful message. We may not see each other every day, but please remember that I am always here for you all.

Whether it’s a parent having a little wobble, someone needing a supportive message or a child beginning a new chapter, Auntie Lisa and Uncle Des are always here—ready with encouragement, support and plenty of cuddles for children and parents alike. 🤗💗

🌙💤 SAFER SLEEP UPDATE – FROM 1ST SEPTEMBER 💤🌙

From 1st September, updated Safer Sleep requirements have come into effect for Early Years providers as part of the Department for Education’s (DfE) Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. 💕

Here at The Cheshire Childcare Company, the safety, comfort and wellbeing of every baby and young child in my care is always a priority. ❤️

To ensure my setting is fully compliant with the updated Safer Sleep requirements, I have reviewed my sleep arrangements, procedures and equipment.

✨ New travel cots, sleep mats and bedding have all been purchased to ensure children have appropriate, safe and comfortable places to rest.

The updated Safer Sleep practices include:

🛏️ Appropriate cots and sleep spaces
💤 Babies and young children being placed safely on their backs to sleep
👶 Individual, separate sleep spaces
✔️ Firm, flat and waterproof mattresses
🧸 Clear sleep spaces without unnecessary toys, pillows or loose items
🌡️ Appropriate room temperatures
👀 Regular checks and appropriate supervision throughout sleep times
🚗 Safe procedures when a baby falls asleep while travelling

For babies under six months, an adult will remain in the same room during sleep, and all sleeping children will continue to be within sight and hearing and checked frequently.

Following these Safer Sleep practices helps keep babies and young children safe, comfortable and able to rest well, ready to wake refreshed and continue learning, exploring and playing. 🌈💕

I understand that changes to guidance can sometimes bring questions, so parents and carers are always welcome to speak to me about how sleep and rest are managed within the setting.

🌟 1st September – A New Chapter Begins! 🌟
Today is the 1st September, and for so many families this week marks the beginning of a brand-new chapter. 📚🎒✨

From little ones taking those very first steps into Reception, to children starting high school, and those moving up into a brand-new year group — there will be a whole mixture of emotions. 🥹❤️

They may be feeling nervous, excited, happy, worried and everything in between… and that’s completely normal. Sometimes even the biggest smiles are hiding a few butterflies! 🦋

💬 Remember to talk to your children.

Encourage them to share how they are feeling, let them know it’s okay to be nervous, and keep those lines of communication open. Sometimes a simple “How are you feeling about today?” can make such a difference.

🤗 Give them that little extra hug before they walk through the school gates.

👋 Watch their faces light up when they spot their friends.

😊 And watch as those nervous feelings slowly disappear and you see them begin to relax, knowing they are going to be absolutely fine.
And please… DON’T FORGET THOSE FIRST-DAY SCHOOL PHOTOS! 📸🎒

Messy hair, oversized uniforms, nervous smiles, proud smiles — capture it all! ❤️

Those photographs become such precious memories. They mark the beginning of another important step in your child’s journey as they grow, learn and become more independent in so many different ways. 🌱✨
